Should I craft ammo or healing first in The Sinking City 2?
Match the next fight. Heals do not kill. Ammo does not close a grab. Default to pistol ammo for average rooms. Exact ratios stay TBA.
The Sinking City 2 crafting turns scarce mats into ammo or healing. Match the next fight, swap Safe Room perks, and never empty the pack on one recipe.
Chemicals, herbs, and gunpowder become ammo or healing. Craft in a Safe Room, then stash the rest.

The Sinking City 2 crafting is the ammo-versus-healing trade, not a recipe wiki. The Sinking City 2 (Frogwares / Frogwares) lets Calvin Rafferty turn scarce mats into bullets or heals at a Safe Room. Exact formulas stay TBA. Match the next fight, not a “full stack” fantasy. Do not empty the finite pack on one click. Verified August 19, 2026 · Steam.

Craft what the next fight spends. A heal stack does not finish a Slither. An ammo stack does not close a grab. The Sinking City 2 crafting shares the same scarce pile, so the first click is a bet on the room you are about to walk, not on a balanced warehouse.

| Next room looks like | Craft first | Leave uncrafted |
|---|---|---|
| One or two walkers, weak points visible | Pistol ammo — cheapest stockpile (community-observed) | Shotgun / SMG piles you will not fire |
| Tight hall, grab risk, already nicked | One heal you will actually use | A second heal that crowds out gunpowder |
| Swarm / multi-angle spawn | The ammo the gun in hand spends — often the tommy once things are dicey | Pistol top-off you will not have time to tap |
| You plan to melee after a dodge | Heal, not a third ammo type | Bullets for a fight you intend to stomp |
| Optional investigation wing, pack already thin | Nothing — stash and skip the case | A “full kit” that still dies in the first side room |
| Safe Room, then a known weapon upgrade fight | That gun’s ammo only | Every other caliber “for later” |
Community hours treat the basic pistol as ol’ reliable: once upgraded it hits hard, and its ammunition is the easiest to stockpile. Higher-tier guns are stronger and also hungrier — more inventory slots, more expensive rounds. Whip the shotgun or tommy out when the room is actually bad. Do not craft a backpack of SMG ammo because the gun looks newer.
Weak points cut the bullet tax. A typical shambler that eats about six body shots drops in about three if you hit the glowing points (community-observed). Each weak point is worth about two regular shots. That is why this page would rather you craft fewer pistol rounds and aim than dump the whole chemical pile into a panic caliber.
Opening hours show healing herbs combining toward pills if the second reagent is in the pack, and a stronger spray-style heal that costs extra herb (community-observed). Exact numbers stay TBA. The job of a heal is to buy the walk back to a Safe Room, not to let you stand in a grab. If you are already planning to run — and running is a legal tactic — craft the heal that gets you to the door, then stop.
Once ammo-or-heal is a room question, the bench question is where those clicks actually happen.
Craft at a Safe Room — stash, craft, and save live together. Opening footage also uses the inventory / stash “annex” flow: pick up chemicals in the world, then combine them at the bench, not on the street. Named opening mats that have shown up in play: chemicals, healing herbs, gunpowder. Recipe names, stack caps, and a full list stay TBA.

| Mat / output (opening hours) | What it is for | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Chemicals | Combine toward crafted items at the bench | Community-observed pickup |
| Healing herbs | Healing recipes; stronger spray-style heal costs extra herb (community-observed) | Community-observed; ratios TBA |
| Gunpowder | Ammo crafts | Community-observed; per-caliber costs TBA |
| Pills / small heal | Needs a second reagent the opening may not have yet | UI exists; full recipe TBA |
| Spray-style heal | “Restores a significant amount of health” analog — extra herb (community-observed) | Name TBA |
| Handgun / shotgun ammo | World pickups plus bench crafts | Do not invent bullet counts |
| Revolver ammo recipe | Listed with Premium Holloway / Bucking Bronco | Edition extra — not Standard default |
| Extra / bonus recipe row | UI mentions an extra recipe — identity TBA | Do not guess the unlock |
The pack is finite. Ammo, heals, craft mats, and key items compete. If you craft while the bag is already full, you will drop the thing the next puzzle wanted. Dump overflow into the Safe Room chest, craft the retreat kit, then leave. Soft drops adapt when you are already starving — that is a survival rule, not a license to print ammo.
World pickups still matter. Handgun ammo and shotgun shells drop on the route. Crafting is the top-off, not the only source. If a room is still red on the map, loot it before you burn gunpowder to replace what you walked past.
This site’s crafting calculator stays noindex until formulas are logged. Preview coverage confirmed ammo and healing crafts exist. It did not publish a ratio sheet this page will copy. “One extra herb” on the stronger heal is community-observed from opening hours, not a patch note. If a later recapture names stack sizes, they belong in a table update — not in a fake efficiency percent.
The one craft multiplier we will talk about is a perk you can swap on in the Safe Room, then swap off.
Perk points come from exploration, mysteries, and linking investigation files. Some perks are “dubiously useful.” One community-observed standout is craft more ammo — on the order of two extra rounds per craft in a tight survival-horror economy. The trick is not to live in that perk. The trick is to equip it at the bench, click craft, then swap back to the combat loadout before you open the door.
Community hours: you can swap perks whenever you are in a Safe Room. That makes a craft-perk a toggle, not a lifestyle. Smell-test: if you would rather look cheesy than lose the face, toggle it. This page will not invent i-frames or a hidden cooldown. If a patch locks loadouts mid-visit, mark that TBA and stop recommending the swap until recaptured.
Dream Essence talents are a separate spend from these perk toggles. Do not dump Essence on a craft node you have not seen. Full tree names stay TBA.
Two extra bullets sound small. In a game where a shambler can eat six body shots, they are not nothing. They are also not a reason to convert every herb into ammo. Toggle, craft a legal amount, toggle back. If the next room is a heal problem, the ammo perk does not help — use the heal-side perk if you have one, or craft the herb recipe without a bonus and leave.
The last skill is knowing when the bench is done.
Stop when the pack still holds a retreat kit: enough cheap ammo to break weak points, plus one heal that reaches the last door. Everything else belongs in the chest. The Sinking City 2 crafting fails when you convert the whole mat pile “so it is not wasted.” Mats in the stash are not wasted. Mats turned into the wrong caliber are.
| Stop crafting when | Do this instead |
|---|---|
| You already hold the next fight’s ammo + one heal | Stash remaining herbs and gunpowder |
| A higher-tier gun would fill the last slots | Leave it in the chest; pistol the average room |
| The map still shows red rooms on this floor | Loot first — crafting does not replace a walk-by pickup |
| An optional case is the only reason you are topping off | Skip the case. Optional never gates the story |
| You are crafting a second ammo type “for later” | Later is the stash. The pack is now |
| Pills are greyed out (missing reagent) | Do not burn the herbs on a worse recipe just to click something |
| You have not swapped the combat perk back on | Swap first, then walk — the craft is already done |
Key items, Bolt Cutters, and puzzle toys (Leyden Jars, codes) outrank a fourth heal. If the next door is a puzzle, the legal craft is zero. Put gunpowder in the chest. Soft drops will not save a kit that left the key on the floor because you crafted shotgun shells you will not fire.
Environmental traps and barrels are free ammo. Bait a walker into them and you just skipped a craft. Melee after a dodge is slower and riskier, but it is also a craft you did not spend. Use both before you empty the herb pile.
Match the next fight. Heals do not kill. Ammo does not close a grab. Default to pistol ammo for average rooms. Exact ratios stay TBA.
Safe Rooms: stash, craft, and save. Combine world pickups at the bench, not in the hallway.
Opening hours show chemicals, healing herbs, and gunpowder (community-observed). Full list, stack caps, and formulas stay TBA.
Community-observed: an ammo-craft perk adds on the order of two extra rounds. Equip it in a Safe Room, craft, swap combat perks back. Perk name TBA.
No. Stop when a retreat kit still fits. Stash the rest. Mats in the chest are not wasted.
Yes for average encounters. Higher-tier guns take more slots and more expensive ammo. Save those crafts for dicey rooms (community-observed).
Premium lists a revolver ammo recipe with Bucking Bronco. It is not a Standard-story unlock. Exact bench row TBA.
Not a public one on this site yet. Formulas are TBA. A noindex tool waits until ratios are logged. Do not trust invented numbers.
No. Soft drops adapt when you are already starving. They are a survival net, not a reason to skip the bench or to dump the pack.
Pack rules: survival. What you are feeding: weapons. Optional cases that pay mats: investigations.
